These mid-century earrings are special for they are an ‘objectified’ reflection of the multi racial culture in Singapore. The make is Chinese, but the influence is Indian. Yet details noted in the final product is only something that can be produced from this region.
A fine quality specimen like this is not easy to come by now. Many are melted down, not maintained well, and many are also not made thoughtfully.
The gems are set with the tiny bead prongs of an earlier era of gold work, but the chevrons in each stud are contoured to present a semi domed stud on the earlobes. Flatter studs, while beautiful to look at, somehow do not work well as studs on every ear.
