Description
Natural star sapphire cabochon weighing 6.9ct.
The Burmese star sapphire is pink, with faint undertones of purple.
A small stone this is, but its star is full on and very precise. The sapphire is considered highly transparent, like a pink pool of light.
Because of its small surface area (the stone is small), the star to stone ratio seems very high – the star appears to take up much of the stone.
The stone is cut in such a way it is tall, and you can see the rays extend to the very edge.
This sapphire will display big when set into jewelry, if only because the star displays very fervently.
The very roundedness of the stone is attractive, the domed contours pulling the rays all the way.
When light moves away, the ray thins but the star retains its sharpness.
In faint light, the star is still present.
The last three photos (with the lilac sapphire) show the star sapphire with varying degrees of light: direct light, minimal light, and lastly, the stone at natural state with only natural light (no light shone).
The stone measures 8 x 9 x 10 mm.
