Lace Bracelet Rose Cut Diamond 20k Vintage Chinese
Mid century Straits Chinese gold bracelet set with hand cut diamonds in 20k gold.
These diamonds are hand cut rose cut diamonds, recognisable with primitively cut facets, having fewer facets than Victorian rose cut diamonds.
Other than rough diamonds, these are the most organic cuts. From the late 19th century, these organic rose cut diamonds were the mainstay of Straits Chinese jewellery. A style like this would have been one of the last by the 1950s.
Youthful bracelets as this piece were always made as lightweight as possible, to achieve an aesthetic as flighty as it is graceful. This one in particular feels like ‘lace’, the whole length of the bracelet features a ‘cut out’ pattern embedded with diamonds.
Fun fact: the high karat gold in the bracelet seems to pair seamlessly with white gold/silver jewellery, a modern expression incredibly bohemian.
