3ct Star Diamond Stud Earrings 18k Antique
18k antique cluster diamond studs set with 3ctw brilliant cut diamonds.
These were made from a time after the second war, and by the 7-sided star this is the most ‘modern’ of Straits Chinese ‘bintang’ (star) earrings. Earlier versions showed up with 8 sides as well.
These star ear studs developed from earlier sharp-sided stars, or round-sided floral pairs, to refine into a pair so contemporary in aura. This pair is a bridge between a star and a flower.
These refined later day pieces were set with brilliant cut diamonds and tended to be big (like this), but only for luxurious pairs. This is our second ever pair; the first sold quickly and we did not expect to encounter another at all.
The diamonds are ultra sparkly and each diamond unit in the cluster is at least 3mm across. Each star spans 16mm. Photos do say it all in this pair.
Each cluster will cover a good part of the earlobes, this is that kind of style. I like to think of its charm as relaxed luxury, hence not so much like the top or mid bun but more like the low hair bun.
