Antique Diamond Stud Earrings 20k Chinese
Antique diamond studs set with 2.5ctw brilliant cut diamonds in 20k gold.
This is a pair of Straits Chinese diamond studs. It was made at a time before the 1950s despite how modern the studs feel.
The diamonds are VS1 and F/G color, an excellent thing in a pair of antique studs, and quite rare.
One giveaway of its idiosyncratic, old craftsmanship is how the diamonds are set ultra ‘level’ but framed by its gold bezel in a particularly ’rounded’ way. The gold that wraps its stones is very fine work that lets the diamonds alone shine.
The make of this pair is very unique, though it may require a trained eye to know.
Earlier Straits cluster studs tended to be more decorous. The choice of all uniform sizes in the arrangement of the floral studs is a move towards a more sophisticated and less busy form.
A lesser known fact is that uniformly-sized diamonds on stud earrings is what makes it look big, plush.
Each diamond is big, at 4mm, and each flower spans 1.2cm.
