Antique Diamond Stud Earrings 20k Flower
1900s Straits Chinese earrings set with 2.5ctw diamonds in 20k.
The are medium size studs, at 13mm. They are made very robustly, lush prong and bezel work, with thick, solid, screw back ear posts.
Made at the early turn of the last century, these studs are hard to come with good quality diamonds. When they do, and if they are somewhat distinct (not as commonplace as another Straits pair), it’s always a pleasure to show them to the world.
The diamonds in this pair are set apart, round but gold tipped such that the petals appear pointed. A small touch as this gives the pair a big visual charm.
In these old cluster studs, the solid gold work also pushes the diamonds away from the earlobes. In essence, this is what separates an antique pair from a vintage pair.
Small heirloom pairs like this always pair timelessly with equally well made jewellery, antique or modern.
