These are period jewelry belonging to this region, with a distinct East West flair.

We collected them over a period of time, with the intention of curation in a group to show familia in Straits jewelry.

These high karat gold earrings are the result of our love for yellow gold that is truly golden, perhaps for the warmth of gold more than its stones.

The styles range from Victorian to mid century, you can see which is which.

Choose between hand cut diamonds and full cut diamonds.

Our clusters are pointy-edged, seemingly preferring stars to flowers, and screw backs in stud earrings, where even the ear backings (screw backs) are beautifully shaped.

Only in Straits jewelry will you find the use of hand cut diamonds in organic shapes, this lasted all the way from Georgian era to mid century (1960s).

These hand cut diamonds are truly the rose cut diamonds of the East, the telling sign is how facets (if at all) are primitively spliced, even across the face.

This irregularity explains why it is very hard to gauge the weight of such organic ‘intan’ diamonds, even more challenging than rose cut diamonds.

The beauty of these ‘intan’ diamonds is distinct from rose cut diamonds, a diamond cutting craft perfected to suit the gossamer dressing of this region, diamonds as delicate as weave.

The adapted style has a peculiar ‘East West’ look, and you will only see these representations in the jewelry of Singapore (historically ‘Malaya’).
