Art Deco Jade Diamond Earrings
18k natural jadeite jade and diamond earrings from a period between 1940s and 1960s.
Because the earrings are in such excellent condition, I hesitate to put them to an earlier era. Yet the style is properly Art Deco and the tapered baguette diamonds reveal extraordinary craftsmanship, with proportionately sized diamonds set at curved axes.
Retro earrings tend to lack such fine setting techniques. It is possible the earrings were created earlier and had a later polish.
The jadeite jade is medium to a darker green; its beauty is not in its uniformity but rather variegated clouds of green. This streaking, contained in roundness and set against the form of the horn is quite perfect – almost like you’ve seen it before.
The jade’s colour is effervescent, however dark the surrounding.
I will reveal the tapered baguette diamonds are not just accent diamonds but very white and of exceptional high quality. You can see this in the photo of the pair in the half opened earring box – the diamonds are not dimmed by the dark within.
Each jade cab is about 6mm wide. Each stud comes to 18mm tall. It is not petite, but it is a well-proportioned small pair of cocktail or dinner earrings.
