Early to mid 20th century dangle earrings set with two fiery diamonds weighing 1ctw in 22k.
These are Straits Chinese earrings, of a very unique but distinct East-West beauty that we do not chance often.
The longitudinal form is a Phoenix wing (East), or a paisley leaf (West), a very striking form on the ears.
The dappled gold work is Chinese and Indian, an ethnic technique to simulate the sun’s rays on gold.
These ‘phoenix’ earrings have an asymmetry that flatters feminine ears, at 3cm, it is still a petite golden pair.
Each earring is a ‘huggie’ form that will curve around the earlobes when worn, since the lever backing cleaves to the ears naturally.
The way much of the gold wraps and skirts the earlobes is a look. It is also another look to switch around each side to wear.
These earrings have an aura that is courtesan-like, as ladies of the palace (or intergalactic) may wear.
