Natural Burmese Blue Sapphire Necklace Gold

Natural sapphire necklace set with unheated Burmese sapphires and diamonds in 22k.

This is a vintage piece showing off natural deep blue sapphires of a ‘peacock blue’ hue.

The 15 main sapphires weigh 20ctw, ranging between 0.7ct to 3ct, these are not a small size even if the stones are graduated.

These old mine sapphires are velvety with a rich hue of ‘vintage blue jeans’; it is the first impression our eyes caught and must not neglect to mention.

Nothing about its color can escape its special, special place, the closest official approximation being ‘peacock blue’.

A line design is seen through the necklace, a geometric polka of big-small stones of sapphires and diamonds.

The small diamonds thoroughly illuminate the high contrast of blue-white-yellow into a vivid necklace, that sparkles.

It is not typical for a deep blue sapphire necklace to sparkle with so few diamonds, especially a long line of untreated sapphires.

It is owing to the beauty of these old sapphires, the color of a blue rich but common.

All the stones are individually framed, bezel linked to another bezel, a tedious handmade affair since none of these old mine stones are calibrated.

Such ‘primitive’ techniques are consistent with Burmese traditional craftsmanship, the gold is sheath-like, it is the stones you see.

The necklace is 19″, with stones bigger towards the centre.

Its finely-thinned gold work shows craftsmanship made bezel by bezel, not cast, nothing is chunky.

This is a vintage handmade piece, we curate traditional Burmese jewelry because their stones are far less recurrent in the market.

The tonal saturation of Burmese natural stones is extremely soulful, insightful even, though their velvety nature is not for everyone.

The line design is tallest at 12mm.
