Quartz Ancient Bead Necklace

Fine classical style necklace set with ancient quartz in 24k and 22k.

These are quartz beads of Pyu origin, shaped in round, cylinder and bicone beads.

The stringing of beads without strict symmetry and only following the harmony organic to the shape of beads: this is what makes Pyu jewelry beautiful, approximating what an original necklace in its time – 1500 years ago – would have been.

The primitive nature of an ancient jewelry culture is distinguished from mass calibrated beads, and even with chips nothing is as wondrous as the march of time.

Other than the ‘new’ gold balls, everything that made it to this necklace is authentic ancient material, collected over a long period.

And it is this true excavated face we see in these quartz beads, the passage of Time as a Heropass, unlike most if any of the Roman bead necklaces strung today.

The contemporary aspect of this necklace is its versatility to wear two ways (clasps at the front or to the back).

Whichever you choose, it is an upthrust ‘choker’ length that focuses the aesthetics around the clavicle.

The large centre quartz bead is 20mm by 14mm, the longest cylinder bead is 25mm.

These are very visual beads not just because they are bigger, but because they have that unusual ancient form-aura. Modern quartz beads may look like glass, but not these time-riddled Pyu quartz.

The biggest golden bead is 10mm, all golden beads are 24k gold.

The necklace falls between 16″ to 17.5″ (nature of the clasps), we could add a bead or two if preferred, preserving its encircled look at the neck.
