24k gold ring made in the tradition of Viking rings.

The twist and braid styles of rings were made soulfully throughout Viking history. Some were Romanized, some became lost.

Many are just plain beautiful to look at, in pictures, but never available for sale.

This Classical Rope Twist is one such lost ring, its origins date to 9th century AD.

Apart from historical studies, its intricate beauty is not available to us; we looked at various museum versions so much we decided to make one available.

It is not difficult to make a rope ring, but it is a challenge to make this ring both robust and surpass museum predecessors.

The gold body is formed from six rods of wire plaited into an expanding rope, without revealing where it starts or ends.

Sometimes you figure out the plaits; sometimes you don’t. That’s what keeps the visual interest.

Its obscurity refreshes the perspective every time you look at it, over and again.

The ring will suit one looking for a rope ring that is intricate because it is actually roped.

This ring will wear with any jewelry, man or woman.

The thickness of such a ring will vary according to your ring size; we have experience to work its form with care.

A 24k solid gold ring is a lot of controlled work to build by hand, the coordination of the group as a graduated bunch means it is devotion and not foresight that will get a satisfactory form for each person’s ring.

How do you finish this ring without departing form? (All actual Viking rings are trimmed off at the joint.)

While it is possible to cast similar style rings from a mould, the outcome will not be true to the soulful ring in the photos.

Actually it would be impossible to, if you consider the inside of the ring to be part of its beauty.

If it was possible to cast this ring, we would not offer it here, as it would not have sustained the longing into making.
