Rose Quartz Conch Shell Pendant

Fine ‘conch’ shell pendant set with carved rose quartz and accented with diamonds in 18k.

The pendant is designed to clip over most necklaces, chain or bead.

Carvings can either make the best pendants, or else clumsily, because all the work you see is laboured before even mounting the carving into jewelry.

Since most of the work is behind the curtain, the pendant-carving art of the 20th century is increasingly reserved for those who can see, whether European or Orient. If you look, you may not find one satisfactorily.

Two groups prevail in this art form: the Germans, and the Chinese. Guess which is this?

Carved simple but not simply (not all shells are carved as an art form), this shell has enough thickness to trap the immanent color of rose quartz.

The carving is made from the rough of a high quality rose quartz, this makes a big difference to how pale/deep/milky/clean rose quartz renders in its final state.

The scallop shell gold work extends the carving further, from 4cm (carving) to 6cm (with bail), this is a long form for a pendant, most visual, effortless even, when paired with a longer necklace (of at least 18″).

This pendant is carved (textured), in contrast with the smooth rose quartz & jade pendant. The latter is lighter in pink because it has no undulation to deepen its saturation.
