Diamond Sapphire Ring

Fine double halo ring set with a 1.09ct fancy diamond and accented with blue sapphires and diamonds in 22k and platinum.

The diamond is fancy brownish greenish yellow.

This ring is handmade to bring about an East West cluster ring using traditional jewelry-making techniques.

This peculiar Oriental style is built on the 19th century form, rings rounded at both axes.

The ring ‘folds over’ the finger when you wear, the floral cluster seeming to glove the finger, its contours extending over a beautifully carved, curlicued gallery.

This gallery is displayed on the finger, crowned like a cake.

Its shapely form is the key difference between casual and heirloom style rings: this one is semi ornate, its decorum in its gold work, not on its face.

The ring mount is sculpted, not cast.

Its gold work is carved bit by bit until a contour is reached to qualify as an ‘heirloom’ jewel.

The East West style sometimes inverts the way gold is used, arranging the platinum frame outside and yellow gold bezel inside, then working the gallery in high karat gold.

There is only one ring like this, for it is so much work.

Anglo Indian or Edwardian, this ring is part of a series of double halo rings handmade in the way of heirloom techniques.

This one is called ‘Peacock’; the other two rings are ‘Nightingale’ and ‘Lotus’.
