Vintage Scroll Kerosang Brooch 18k White Gold

Long Scroll Kerosang Brooch

Mid-century Straits Chinese brooch pin set in 18k.

These traditional three-piece ‘kerosang’ pins are often in yellow gold, a white gold set is a keepsake.

Beyond mourning sets, white gold is more of a ‘fashionable’ thing by the 1950s.

The white in these pins have a high palladium content, not the modern day equivalent of plating rhodium over gold.

The price of palladium means any and many of these prewar white gold jewelry go direct to the melting pot.

This white gold kerosang set is almost modern, with no filigree or openwork but etchings on the wave ‘scroll’ motif.

The ‘bead’ etching takes on a different feeling on white gold (a different look on yellow gold), an anachronistic fashion of vintage white gold jewelry.

The only three stones are rustic Colombian emerald cabochons, original to these brooches.

Each pin is quite long at 5cm.

The interlinking chains are closed, but we can adjust the rings to allow individual pins to be worn separately.
