Icy Red Jade Necklace & Bracelet

Fine highly translucent red jadeite necklace and bracelet set with diamonds in 18k.

The jadeite cabochons are carved ruyi, Chinese homophone for “as you wish”, aptly a thick and glowing, peerless material.

On the necklace sits ten ‘Little Ingots’, slightly bigger than the five on the bracelet.

So fine is this jadeite its saturation does not stop light’s passage, powering the ingots beyond their material reality.

The tone of the red jadeite is not brownish, as red jadeite is often observed. The set is distinguished for having perfectly matched red jadeites of color and quality.

Following Chinese tradition, jadeite with translucency that glows must be mounted without backing, to signal the front and back is one and the same thing.

The photos show the red tone to display differently depending on light conditions. You can observe, even from photos, the ingots to appear redder where the window is.

Some of the photos are darker, in order to capture the jade’s glowing quality, but in daylight the red is lighter in tone, a reddish persimmon, delicious… but better worn.

The large pear and small oval drop is a standalone pendant (4cm long) that can be detached from the necklace, for a shorter necklace or a day pendant.

This necklace shows off fine collector jadeite in a color other than green. Like diamonds or sapphires, red when offered in jade is actually the hardest to emerge. In jade, green is mined pervasively, only that the quality varies a whole lot more than red.

A single piece in this necklace is luck, the necklace whole is a nod to modern jewelry finesse, simple, but thorough, a custodian of precious material carried through jewels.

The necklace is 16″, with a drop under 2″. The bracelet is 6.5″.

Diamonds weigh 7.2ctw (necklace) and 2.05ctw (bracelet), weighing 9.25ctw in all.
