Icy Red Jade Earrings & Ring

Fine highly translucent red jadeite ring and earrings set with diamonds in 18k.

The jadeite cabochons are carved ruyi, Chinese homophone for “as you wish”, aptly a thick and glowing, peerless material.

So fine is this jadeite its saturation does not stop light’s passage, powering the ingots beyond their material reality.

The tone of the red jadeite is not brownish, as red jadeite is often observed. The set is distinguished for having perfectly matched red jadeites of color and quality.

Following Chinese tradition, jadeite with translucency that glows must be mounted without backing, to signal the front and back is one and the same thing.

The photos show the red tone to display differently depending on light conditions. Some of the photos are darker, in order to capture the jade’s glowing quality, but in daylight the red is lighter in tone, a reddish persimmon, delicious… but better worn.

Compared to the necklace, the earrings and ring duo is dainty. Such is the visual aesthetic of modern (youthful) Chinese jewelry, perhaps a little opposite to Western jewelry, keeping the movable parts bonbon.

This set shows off fine collector jadeite in a color other than green. Like diamonds or sapphires, red when offered in jade is actually the hardest to emerge. In jade, green is mined pervasively, only that the quality varies a whole lot more than red.

The ring is US 7.5. The earrings come to 4cm.

Diamonds weigh 1.84ctw (earrings) and 0.8ctw (ring), weighing 2.64ctw in all.
