The Moon Crystal Locket Necklace

Fine crystal locket set in 18k rose gold.

The garnet necklace is set in pure 999 silver.

Every little bit is handmade in this locket necklace, from cutting its crystal to making the silver beads and gold clasp. The craftsmanship is masterly.

The crystal quartz magnifies the sterling silver inset of ‘moon’, with splashes of blue and yellow enamel fired over some of its craters. This moon plate is removable when a photo is inserted into the locket.

This crystal is, quite literally, magnificent. Its visual area (almost 2cm) is perpetuated by its dome to display a photo very fully.

We note that even an unclear photo will manifest dramatically.

The back is an 8-sided star, the simplest of mandala that could be worn as its face.

The old in this necklace is the garnet, these are actual ancient Roman beads with minimal finishing except being shaped from roughs. In sunlight these garnet beads reveal their red.

Over 25″ long, these freeform nuggets of gem (stone) are silk strung with geometric beads, and finished with a 14k gold bicone clasp.

Pure 999 silver is the metal we work with because like pure gold, it has little to no impurity. Over time any loss in plating will fade naturally, beautifully even.

A jewelry item like you see in this is actually hard to produce because nothing is cobbled together from the manufactured/secondary market, except for the swivel clasp (widely used today for its clever lever).

This locket necklace is our gesture to make from scratch a historical personal object, with entirely hand-forged jewelry-making techniques that do not involve the use of casting.

In form, this locket is versatile, photo within or without – Monet, your cat, the Moon.

In person, this is sentimental jewelry with symbolism, made by and for one who seeks.

The crystal is 19mm. The locket is 30mm, weighing 27.5 grams.
